Chattanooga, Tennessee- Robert J. Sass, D.O., F.A.C.O.S., has opened a private surgical practice at Memorial & Memorial North Park Hospitals, Chattanooga General & Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Sass has offices at the North Park Medical Office Building, 2051 Hamill Road, Suite 110 in Hixson, and at the Memorial Weight Management Center, 2525 de Sales Avenue, Chattanooga. Dr. Sass specializes in general and bariatric (weight loss) surgery.
Dr. Sass is a board certified general surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Medicine. He comes to Chattanooga with fourteen years of experience. Dr. Sass specializes in gastrointenstinal (abdominal) surgery, as well as weight loss surgery.
Dr. Sass graduated from Temple University in 1981 and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1987. He completed a surgical residency at Frankford Hospitals, Philadelphia in 1992. Dr. Sass received additional post graduate training in advanced laparoscopic surgery at Yale Medical College, Mount Sinai Medical Center, Lehigh Valley Medical Center and the Medical College of Virginia. He has been board certified since 1993.
Dr. Sass has been performing laparoscopic roux-en-y gastric bypass surgery since 2001. He helped develop the Bariatric Surgical Center of Excellence at Russell County Medical Center in Lebanon Virginia. He also developed the minimally invasive surgery program at the same facility. He served as the director of the Bariatric Surgery Program at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion Virginia.
Dr. Sass is a member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery & the American Osteopathic Association. He is a board examiner for the American Board of Osteopathic Surgery.
Robert comes to Chattanooga with his wife of 25 years, Anita, and his children Jacqueline, Jason and Jeffrey. All are very pleased with this new move.
Dr. Sass will be developing a broad-based general and bariatric surgical practice.
